What Is a Healthy Ageing Score, and Why Does Yours Matter?

Most people can tell you their blood pressure or their weight. Almost nobody can tell you their "ageing score" — because until recently, there wasn't one.

The Brightly Ageing Score is a short, structured way of measuring how you're tracking across the things that actually predict how well you'll age: energy, mobility, cognitive health, mood, connection, purpose, and how prepared you are practically and legally for what's ahead.

We’ve had 100+ responses to our Ageing Score Quiz, and the results are a useful answer to "why does this matter?"

Most people feel fine right now. 81% rated their current health as good or excellent, and nearly 6 in 10 report reasonable energy day to day.

But "fine now" and "ready for what's next" are different questions.

Only 15% feel very prepared for the next 10–20 years. A third have some level of concern about their memory. Just under a third have had a fall in the past year. Four in ten don't have both a Will and Enduring Power of Attorney sorted.

None of that shows up if you just ask someone "how's your health?" It only shows up when you measure the specific things that quietly shift with age — which is the entire point of the score.

What your score actually tells you:

  • Where you're already strong, so you can protect it

  • Where small changes now prevent bigger problems later (mobility and falls risk especially — the data shows this is where "manageable" can tip into "affecting daily life" without much warning)

  • The unglamorous practical stuff (Will, EPOA, GP relationship) that's easy to keep deferring

  • A clear, non-judgemental starting point — not a diagnosis, a baseline

It takes about five minutes.
